Questions and Answers:

Do I have to read all of this before I can RP?
Yes. It's very important to have at least read through this, you don't need to memorize it, but understanding the basis of an rp is crucial.

Does my character have to be of the Nex species? Can it be a Hybrid?
Your character must be of the Nex species. Your character cannot be a hybrid.
The Nex are hybrids, anyway- see below- they're very versatile; it's likely that the characteristics you would want from a Hybrid character exist in one of the abilities- check the chart.
For example; strength and speed. All Nex are enormously strong and quite fast, however some are faster than others- specific information on that found in the Ability Chart- whereas some are better at blending in.
So finding a fit for the characteristics you're looking for shouldn't be too difficult.

Is there an ability that needs more members right now?
We presently have a lot of members in Flames and Shadows; it would be appreciated if you would seriously consider options other than those two.
However, if you decide you do want to be a Flame or a Shadow, applying for those abilities is not forbidden.

Who are the Nex?
The Nex are a subspecies of Vampire, they follow some of the basic rules of such; -they generally do not like sunlight -they need to feed on blood (but they need to eat regular food, as well) -they have a language -they have an army -they have near immortal lives -they can become evil -they go from children to adults in a special change -they mate for life -they have an order of authority -there are civilians - they do not want to be exposed to the world
However, to specify; -if you are bitten by a Nex, you will not turn to one, you must be born Nex.

How did the Nex come to be?
From many types of Vampires and other creatures cross breading, the bloodlines collected all these interesting characteristics and finally accumulated them into the first two Nex. Since the Nex gene is a dominant one, when those two Nex found their own mates, their offspring were Nex and so on until there are so many Nex that they can find mates of their own kind now.

Who were the first Nex?
Mother of the Nex: Razelle
Father of the Nex: Tempest
First female Nex: Feore (was a Drop) referred to as the Siow ('goddess')
First male Nex: Rouguar (was a Leaf) referred to as the Prion ('god')

Do the Nex have a religion?
Not really; Nex do occasionally say 'heh say Prion/Siow' which translates roughly to 'oh my god/goddess'. (females say Siow, males say Prion) Nex also have a chant thanking the Parent Two (Razelle and Tempest). But there is no religion, rules for getting into 'heaven' which is Crasis, except that you not turn Regue- then you go to 'hell' which is Bithem.

Where/when does rp take place?
Where: Strathcona park, Canada. (It's a very, very, big national park that has tons of awesome terrain for hunting etcetera.)
When: Present day.

The Nex have a army?!
Yes. It's called the Nex Elite. The Nex Elite is a force that has members around the whole world, but is concentrated in Strathcona Park (where the rp takes place). This is where the Nex have set up an underground facility under the rocks of Della Falls, where the first two Nex were born. This is where they train young Nex to be a part of the Nex Elite; should a Nex be good enough, they may become a teacher themselves.
The Nex Elite exist to protect the species from being exposed by Vampire Fanatics (Humans who want to be famous by showing the Nex to the world) and protecting civilian Nex and humans from the Regue (Nex gone bad).

What is the daily schedule for the Nex Elite Training Facility?
There are three classes; -Focus -Combat -Tactics
Focus is about learning how to use your abilities for everyday things and little tricks as well as other things that don't fit into the other classes, like lectures and such.
Combat is where Nex learn how to fight with weapons, their hands, their abilities, all that.
Tactics is where Nex learn about fighting, reconnaissance, stealth and all other sorts of tactics.
Each class is two hours long. There's time for breakfast at the beginning of the night, then first class, then break, then second class, then break, then last class, then break, then it's curfew. All this happens at night, as Nex do sleep during the day. There is a certain slot of time where you're allowed outside depending on your sun tattoo.

Do they get  cool weapons? Official markings?
Of course! Each member of the Nex Elite have special daggers that go into sheathes on their thighs. The hilt looks a bit like a lightning bolt, but it's actually a stretched N. These daggers are given to a Nex when they become an Elite and are normally only used by that Nex, though they may be used by others in situations that are dire.
Nex Elite members have a tattoo on the right side of their neck that is an N with four dots up the left side of the letter. This is the Nex Elite symbol. For reference, follow this ( http://meanara.deviantart.com/art/Nex-Elite-Symbol-106840117 ).

What is a Morph? Pre-Morph? New-Morph?
A Morph is the change a Nex goes through to become an adult. This happens anywhere between the ages of 19 and 21. Their abilities are fully acquired at that point. It is extremely painful; bones crack so the body can ensure it knows how to heal everything properly, sudden blood lust comes over the Nex, they gain the ability to have their hair and eyes glow with emotion, they gain scales and a tail under their skin that can come out to protect them like armor.
A Pre-Morph is a Nex who has not Morphed yet; a 'child' or 'teenager'
A New-Morph is a Nex who has Morphed within the last year.

How often do Nex need to feed?
It's a good idea to feed about once a week, but most Nex feed more often than that simply because they like it or they're being cautious or they've gotten addicted to Death Blood.
If a Nex does not feed for a Month, they will become extremely weak. If blood is not consumed for two months, the Nex will not be able to think of anything but feeding- they will also be nearly dead. At about two months and a week, the Nex will die. Should Blood be taken at any point before death, they may be saved. Blood can be injected, it does not have to travel through the mouth in order to replenish the Nex. Nex can feed from either gender and any species; Vampire, Human or Animal. The important thing is that it's blood. But Vampire blood is preferred simply out of specism.
Nex need to eat regular food at the same intervals as humans, except they eat at night, since Nex are nocturnal as they mostly die in the sunlight.

What is Death Blood?
Death Blood is the adrenaline filled blood drank as someone dies. It can be addicting and is thus off limits by law to Pre-Morphs, and discouraged among New-Morphs. Studies are currently being done to try to find a way to get DB addicts off it, but as of yet there have been no significant breakthroughs.

What do you mean Nex 'generally' do not like sunlight?
If a Nex is exposed to too much sunlight for their specific attributes, they will die within approximately thirty seconds; in the end looking like a burn victim.
Each Nex has a certain tolerance to sunlight, it is graded in three categories; -cannot go in sunlight -can go out in dim sunlight (early morning/late evening) -can go out in sunlight
Reaction percentages for the nine abilities all vary.
A few days after a Nex's Morph (usually about three days after) the Nex's parent or guardian will expose a four-pointed star area of the newly Morphed Nex's skin to sunlight at noon. This area is on the inner side of their left forearm right by their elbow. The exposure lasts for about fifteen seconds. Once the Nex's reaction level to sunlight is determined, the star shape is outlined as a tattoo. The following are placed inside said tattoo depending on the reaction level:
If the Nex cannot tolerate any sunlight, an X is put in the star, each line going into a corner of the star.
If the Nex can handle a little sunlight, a + is put in the star, the each line going to a point close to the center.
If the Nex can handle any sunlight, nothing is put in the star, it is left as a simple outline.

When you say 'they can become evil' you meant...?
When a Nex 'becomes evil', they turn Regue. This is a physical change that happens when a Nex is dealt too much stress.
The changes are: -hair and eyes can no longer glow -will scratch at left forearm where mating symbol is/would be - try to kill everyone, especially their previously close family members -blood will often become thicker and darker due to overindulgence in drinking Death Blood

What's this about scales and a TAIL?!
During the Morph, Nex's bones crack and the body heals, but the scales are formed out of the old bones; small ones over the whole body- even the eyes, large ones over the spine, and a tail. The tail can only be out when the Nex has their scales out. The scales can be made to come out on only certain parts of the body at a time, so a Nex could walk around with their tail out and no other scales. BUT the tail cannot be out without scales on top, it is too vulnerable. The tail is created when the Spinal Chord extends; so the Nex is more flexible when their tail is out. The scales rest under their skin until needed and can be either sticking straight out of the skin or laying on top of it to shield it.

What about mates/mating?
In order for a Nex to choose a mate there are a few things that must happen;
Using X and Y as stand-ins for names,
-X must please Y's body while drinking Y's blood.
-Y must please X's body while drinking X's blood.
These can happen simultaneously and usually do.
Mating is not rped out in the room simply because it is against the rules of DeviantART.
After the mating ceremony is complete, this ( http://meanara.deviantart.com/art/Mating-Symbol-107482048 ) will appear on the left wrist of each Nex who has just been mated- except with different names.

What are Identification Tattoos?
Identification tattoos all appear on the inner side of the Nex's left forearm. There are three:
-Mating symbol; which appears on the left inner wrist of the Nes if the Nex is mated and just alerts others as to who they're mated to.
-Ability Tattoo; appears during Morph, between Mating Symbol and Sun Tattoo, simply states the Nex's ability.
-Sun Tattoo; is placed on inner left forearm by elbow about three days after Morph and tells the Nex and others how much sun they can handle, can explain deaths sometimes.

How are dorms and rooms arranged?
There is one dorm for each gender of each ability; this means your class is who you spend the most time with. If you're going to a class, they're going there, too. (Although sometimes classes come together for large practices or if a teacher is absent and a few other circumstances.)
There separate rooms for actually mated couples- not just Nex who are dating.

Hierarchy
Head of the species: the Centra (basically like the king/queen)
Best undercover assassin: the Attroid (face is not known to any enemies since they leave none alive and hardly show it to others, even in the Nex Elite unless extreme trust is felt.)
Head of Nex Elite: the Subcentra
Army: Nex Elite
Nex Elite to-be: Trainees (this is you!)
Non-military personnel: Civilians

Are there any ceremonies or gestures I need to know?
Yes, quite a few, actually. But here are the most important ones;
-The greeting of Nex commonly is 'hitting fists', this is where the one offering the greeting presents their fist face up (so knuckles face the ceiling/sky) and the one the greeting is offered to (should they accept it) hits their knuckles- face down- atop the other's fist.
-If you feel like showing another you dislike them immensely, hold your fist out as if you are going to accept the greeting (this can be done whether one has offered to hit fists or not) and open your hand to the floor like you were dropping something. This is the Nex equivalent to fingering someone- although it relates more to harmed honor than a simple rude gesture.

What's the Nex's language?
The Nex's language is very simply called Nex. It has the same configuration as English; ex. "I say hello" is directly translated to "Dhi eys lelhe", the order of the words does not change. Also, I (dhi) is not capitalized in Nex. The language is rarely used in rp and anything beyond a few basic words will usually be translated.

You must fill in all components of this character sheet, except for the field labeled as being not required. You may add more information about your character under the required fields if you wish, but it is not needed.
